The globe representing the size of the sun shows the respective size of the solar system's planets. A recent article in the IHT pointed out that planetary research is making headway as telescopes are becoming significantly more powerful. Planets in other solar systems have been just too small to be detected with current technology. The planets discovered so far are huge - up to 11 times the size of Jupiter. Smaller ones, the size of earth, are not expected to be found any time soon, even though there are no doubts that they exist.
